Grounded for the Holidays

The holidays have a way of pulling us in a hundred directions at once, which is why staying grounded feels more important than ever. When we’re grounded, we show up as our best and healthiest selves—not just for those around us, but for ourselves too. It’s what allows us to be present for the moments that matter most.

Being grounded looks different for everyone. This past summer, I made a commitment to myself to return to my yoga practice—something I had drifted away from during Covid. I missed it deeply, and coming back to it has felt like coming home.

Yoga grounds me in a way no other exercise does. It makes my body feel strong and capable, while also clearing my mind and quieting the mental noise that can build so easily during this season. That sense of clarity and calm carries with me long after I step off the mat.

Hiking is my other favorite way to stay grounded. Being outdoors, moving my body, and soaking in the beauty around me reminds me to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect. Nature has a way of gently pulling us back into the present moment.

If you’re looking for ways to stay grounded this holiday season, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Meditation, prayer, reading a few pages before bed, taking quiet walks, journaling, lighting a candle, listening to music, or even creating moments of stillness with a warm cup of tea can all help. Whatever grounding looks like for you, my hope is that it helps you move through this season with more presence, peace, and intention.

Warmly,

~Wendy
